Environmental Statement
Parlour Farm is as concerned as everyone about their carbon footprint. As such we are making serious in roads to reducing our waste and, what waste we do produce, which is inevitable, we are finding new and innovative ways to recycle. We have now invested in machinery to allow us to recycle our wood shavings for equine bedding. We are looking into investing for next winter into a whole recycling system that will use the remainder of our waste and off cuts to allow us to produce briquettes to burn in multi fuel boilers for heating our warehouses. This will allow us to recycle in-house all our paper waste from our offices and also all our packaging materials as well. This will dramatically reduce our need for oil and gas by over 85%. All our lighting is under review to move them all over to low wattage LED bulbs which will reduce our lighting power consumption by 90%!
Further we ensure that all our materials used are from certified managed forests and ensure that all materials are FSC registered and we only use suppliers who subscribe to our stringent sourcing requirements. All our paint finishes are water not oil based and therefore are very much kinder to our environment. We have invested in our own paint manufacturing plant to ensure we mix and use exactly the right quantities and remove the need for buying in our required supply via tins. This has cut over 3000 large metal tins from our foot print alone!
These are just some of the progress we have made to ensure that we remain as carbon neutral as we can. |
