Our Policy

Parlour Farm is as concerned as everyone about their carbon footprint.

As such we have taken serious steps towards reducing our waste and, what waste we do produce, which is inevitable, we are finding new and innovative ways to recycle. We have now invested in machinery and now produce recycled equine bedding from our wood shavings. We are currently researching a new recycling system which will produce briquettes from the remainder of our waste and off cuts. The briquettes will then be used in our multi fuel boilers to heat our warehouses. This will dramatically reduce our need for oil and gas by over 85%. All our lighting is under review and will shortly be moving to LED bulbs which will reduce our lighting power consumption by 90%!

Alongside this we have stringent sourcing requirements - the key components of which are sourcing timber from certified managed forests, and all materials are FSC registered in addition to this we only use suppliers whom embrace and adhere to these policies. Our paints, which we mix ourselves, are water based making then much kinder to our environment. Because we mix our own paints we are able to produce the appropriate quantities thus reducing the amount of wastage, there is also no need for the paint to be supplied via tins - this alone has cut over 3000 large metal tins from our footprint!

We are very proud of the progress which we have made to reduce our carbon footprint however we will always continue to seek new and innovative ways to further improve
